 What’s the role all about?

The main purpose of the role is to support the Head of Health and Safety and Compliance Team in delivering the Health, Safety, Fire Safety and Compliance functions for the operations for PA Housing, as well as:

  • Comply with the Group Health & Safety Policy, ensuring own and others health and safety.
  • Provide H&S advice and support to the PA Housing teams
  • Carry out H&S audits, inspections and risk assessments
  • Carry out Fire Risk Assessments and following up remedial actions that arise from them
  • Occurrence investigations and reporting
  • Develop and deliver H&S, fire safety and induction training
  • Carry out DSE / Workstation Assessments
  • Assist in the monitoring of contractor H&S and compliance through audit and active monitoring
  • Periodically attend evening meetings and committee meetings as and when required
  • Maintain professional standing with the IFE and IOSH, completing CPD as required and maintaining IFE Risk Assessor Registration
  • Have and maintain a valid UK drivers licence with access to a suitable vehicle to travel to sites with ladders and basic equipment (with the ability to reclaim business mileage).


Note that the role will require the individual to...

  • Routinely climb steps and ladders
  • Access and inspect remote areas of buildings such as roof voids and basements
  • Work remotely as a lone worker following suitable lone working safety procedures
  • Carry step ladders and ladders up multiple flights of stairs
  • Complete detailed inspection reports and fire risk assessments on site using an IPad of Android phone.

  

To be successful in this role, we’d be looking for the following…

  • Experience in carrying out Health and Safety Risk Assessments, Compliance Audits, and Fire Risk Assessments including providing suitable and sufficient reports.
  • Experience in Fire Safety Management in a variety of environment
  • Experience completing root cause analysis and accident investigation
  • Experience completing DSE/workstation assessments and producing suitable reports and recommendations
  • Good knowledge of the general Health and Safety compliance requirements for landlords and service deliver contractors with specific emphasis on Gas, Electrical, Asbestos, Legionella, and Fire Safety Management
  • Demonstrable knowledge in Fire Safety Management in a medical or care environment and in a commercial or social housing environment.
  • NVQ Level 3 or higher qualification in fire safety management
  • IFE/IFSM recognised qualification in fire risk assessment Level 3 or 4
