So what’s the role all about?

As a Repairs Surveyor, you will provide a comprehensive Surveying resource for the Property Services Department, covering all aspects of Responsive Repairs including Disrepair, mutual exchanges, some Major Works and Voids.

This role can offer hybrid working, with a mix of being based at home, on visits and attending the office however we may need you to be in the office more within your probation, whilst you get up to speed. Please be aware you will be required to be part of an out of hours rota as a Duty Officer.


Some of the key tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Inspect housing stock and building works, prepare specifications; compile tender/contract documentation to deliver repairs and void works
  • Assist all colleagues and contractors in order to achieve top quartile performance in all aspects of maintenance services
  • Limit risk to the organisation through working knowledge of legislation risk management
  • Carry out pre and post inspections utilising the protimeter and other relevant diagnostic equipment and iauditor
  • Work with contractors to utilise the budget for maintenance effectively
  • Comply fully with requirement to update PA Housing CRM system with all customer contact (incoming or outgoing)
  • Collate evidence to manage contractor performance
  • Manage complaints and disrepair from contract inception to completion
  • Complete post inspection of work orders completed of the responsive repairs term partnering contractors on a monthly basis to assist in ensuring that works have been carried out to the correct quality and standard along with ensuring PA Housing gain VfM on the PPP contract
  • Carry out Health and safety Audits a month to ensure that our contractors are compliant with on site Health and safety standards
  • Carry out Mutual Exchange inspections to ensure that new customer home is safe and compliant and pre and post void inspections and keep void times to a minimum
  • Provide technical support and advice to repair advisors and administrators
  • Progress, manage and communicate to all internal and external customers in relation to complaints, MP enquiries, EHO compliant and Legal disrepairs


To be successful in this role, we’d be looking for the following…

  • Experience of scheduling building / planned maintenance works and contract administration
  • Experience of communicating with service users, staff and other agencies
  • Knowledge of housing maintenance, repair specifications, diagnosing defects and remedial works
  • Computer literate (e.g. Microsoft package – Outlook/email, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the use of databases
  • Able to work with minimum supervision
  • Qualified to minimum HNC standard, or previous experience in a Construction / Maintenance environment
